Bengaluru, 17 Sept

A leopard was spotted crossing a flyover near the Phase 1 toll plaza of Electronic City, placing the area under high alert early Tuesday morning.

The sighting was captured on CCTV footage at around 3 am. The big cat was reportedly moving from the Panak India Company area to the Nettur Technical Training Foundation (NTTF) ground. The forest officials believed this could be the same leopard seen last week in the Jigani area.

Both the police and forest department officials launched a search to locate the animal and ensure public safety and a high alert was issued.

Sunil Joshi, Principal of NTTF, said precautionary measures were immediately taken.

The forest department confirmed that the leopard had not entered the premises. Krishna SR, the Range Forest Officer (RFO) of Anekal, told Salar News, “Leopards are known to wander into urban areas in search of food or when their natural habitat is disturbed. Our teams have set up camera traps in key locations.” -Salar News
