Bengaluru, 8 March

Malls are favourite hangout spaces for all. But behind the glitz and glamour of the swanky buildings are the hundreds of nameless faces who toil for hours to ensure the visitors enjoy a clean space. Kavitha S is one such face. She left her quiet life in Chikkamagaluru for the hustle and bustle of Bengaluru and landed a job as a maintenance staff at Forum Mall, Kanakapura Road.

Kavitha was driven by her desire to build a secure future for her daughter. “I am a mother of a single daughter. I moved to the City to work and take care of my child. I have always loved my profession. I will work till I am sure that my child can survive without me,” she said.

"People assumed I wouldn't be strong enough. But I never cared about what society had to say. I only thought about my daughter's well being and worked to give her a good life.  Now that she is settled, I have nothing to worry about."
