Ahead of the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has announced the introduction of a streamlined "Single Window System" to simplify the process of obtaining permissions for festival activities. This system will be available at 63 sub-divisional offices across the City.

A special committee, comprising members from BBMP, the Police, BESCOM, and the Fire Department, will manage monitoring centres set up in these sub-divisional offices. These centres will be easily accessible to the public, providing detailed information about nodal officers and efficiently addressing any festival-related queries.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath said, “This initiative aims to maintain law and order during the festival while ensuring the process is convenient for the public.”

He reiterated the ban on Plaster of Paris (POP) Ganesha idols and encouraged citizens to use eco-friendly alternatives. He also outlined BBMP’s plans for managing idol immersions, including deploying personnel at designated Kalyanis (water tanks) near lakes and arranging temporary mobile sewage units at key locations.

During the meeting, organizers of Ganesha Pratishthan raised several suggestions and requests, including the need for suitable locations for idol immersions, additional security in sensitive areas, strict enforcement of the ban on POP idols, and ensuring that roads leading to procession sites are in good condition.
