BENGALURU, 15 JULY

Bengaluru residents finally received a good spell of rain on Monday after weeks of mostly cloudy skies.

The rain in the afternoon had sent two-wheeler riders scrambling for cover and drenched areas like Shantinagar and Richmond Town.

Two-wheeler riders, in particular, faced the brunt of the heavy rainfall. It also had an impacted an ongoing protest by hot meal activists in Freedom Park. However, the determined group continued their demonstration, albeit under umbrellas.

The rain also caused waterlogging in several areas, significantly impacting traffic flow. The traffic police issued advisories for slow-moving traffic due to waterlogging near Dommasandra circle, Marathahalli towards Kadubeesanahalli service road, and Palace Cross towards Chakravarthy layout. Additionally, a fallen tree near Vaibhav Theatre Sanjay Nagar main road caused further delays.

The traffic police urged commuters to be cautious and avoid these affected areas if possible. The rain is expected to continue, and the residents are advised to stay updated on the latest weather forecasts and traffic updates. Meteorological department experts attributed the rainfall to a drop in barometric pressure in the East Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. The city itself experienced moderate showers, while several coastal districts received heavy rainfall. -Salar News
