A 40-year-old Indian Air Force (IAF) officer was injured in a
road rage incident near Gopalan Grand Mall in CV Raman Nagar early Monday
morning, leading to the arrest of one individual.
The altercation occurred around 6.30 am when Wing Commander
Shiladitya Bose and Squadron Leader Madhumita Dutta were en route to Kempegowda
International Airport
The couple claimed a rash biker obstructed their car and
kicked their car while abusing in Kannada. Bose stepped out of the car to
confront the man and was allegedly assaulted.
Bose claimed he was targeted for not speaking Kannada. But
Deputy Commissioner of Police D Devaraj
said, “It was a case of road rage.”
The couple’s car, driven by Madhumita, reportedly grazed the
biker while turning. The biker, Vikas Kumar, a 29-year-old call centre
employee, was arrested. CCTV footage from the location shows bystanders
intervening as the duo exchanged blows.
“He (Kumar) drove with high speed, which eyewitnesses said they saw and it was this behaviour that the lady officer objected. That’s how the altercation started. Both sides could have ignored the incident. Vikas went to the wing commander asking him why his wife was speaking in that manner. This is when an argument began.” “The bike key was in the hand of the accused Vikas and he has used it to punch. That is where the officer sustained injuries, the cop said.
