Bengaluru, 18 Feb

Karnataka Police have arrested three individuals in the City for allegedly kidnapping a spa owner for ransom, rescuing the victim during a swift operation.

The incident began on 15 February, when a complaint was lodged at the Electronic City Police Station in the City by a spa manager from Akshayanagar, Begur.

The complainant reported that while travelling home on a two-wheeler with the spa owner, unknown assailants in a car intercepted them near Bettadasanapura on Arena Sports Road.

The kidnappers verbally abused and assaulted the complainant with deadly weapons, and forcibly took the spa owner in their vehicle. They then demanded Rs 2 lakh ransom, threatening to kill the owner.

Following investigations and credible informant tips, police traced and apprehended the three suspects along with the kidnapped man on 17 February.

During interrogation, it was revealed that one suspect, working at an apartment in Gottigere, had misappropriated funds and lost money in online gaming.

To cover his losses, he assumed the spa owner had money, leading to the kidnapping.

The police seized a car, deadly weapons, three mobile phones, and Rs 9,700 cash. The trio was produced before the court on 18 February and placed in police custody.
