  • We will discuss everything. If satisfied, we will allow IPL matches at Bengaluru's Stadium, G Parameshwara said

Bengaluru, 11 Feb

Home Minister G Parameshwara said on Wednesday that a meeting will be held on 12 February to decide whether to grant clearance to host cricket matches at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The decision hinges on whether the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has complied with all safety and security requirements.

Matches have been suspended since a tragic stampede during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL victory celebrations on 4 June 2025, which claimed 11 lives.

A panel led by GBA Commissioner Maheshwar Rao will review KSCA's compliance with recommendations from the Justice John Michael Cunha Commission probe report. "We will discuss everything. If satisfied, we will allow."Parameshwara said.

The government previously denied permission in December to host the Vijay Hazare Trophy match at the stadium after KSCA failed to meet safety requirements.

The Commission recommended adequate gates for mass entry and exit, purpose-built queuing and circulation zones separated from public roads and emergency evacuation compliant with international norms, among other measures.
