18 candidates from Karnataka arrested for cheating in Army recruitment exam

The FIR in Bengaluru states that during the exam, 18 candidates were caught using digital and electronic devices to cheat, aiming to secure government jobs unfairly.

Bengaluru, 10 Feb

 

As many as eighteen candidates involved in malpractice during a recent Army Group C recruitment examination have been arrested in Bengaluru, police said. The arrests followed an FIR filed by Colonel SS Jyothirlingam, Security Officer to the Commandant and Managing Director of the 515 Army Base Workshop, where the exam took place on 8 February.

 

The exam was for Civil Defence Employee Group C posts, specifically Lower Division Clerk positions. The FIR in Bengaluru states that during the examination, 18 candidates were caught using digital and electronic devices to cheat, aiming to secure government jobs unfairly.

 

Electronic devices were found in their possession within the examination hall, and in two cases, devices were also discovered in bags outside the hall. A senior police officer said, “Based on the complaint, we registered an FIR for cheating and examination malpractice. The electronic devices have been seized. After questioning the candidates, we arrested all 18 of them on 9 February in connection with the incident.” Further investigations are ongoing.
