Bengaluru, February 6
Karnataka Opposition Leader R. Ashoka on Thursday said the
opposition had exposed what he termed the “swallowing eyes” corruption of the
Congress during the special session and would intensify the fight against it.
Addressing a press conference, Ashoka said he had submitted
five documents and audio records related to the alleged Rs 6,000 crore scam inthe Excise Department, yet the government was still seeking proof. He recalled
that when contractors earlier alleged 40 per cent corruption, Congress had
targeted the BJP government, but now liquor traders have spoken of 80 per cent
corruption. Despite this, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Excice Minister RB
Thimmappur had not resigned, he alleged.
Ashoka said the BJP would fight to recover Rs 6,000 crore of
public money.
On the upcoming Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) polls, Ashoka said that discussion will
be held with all MLAs and district office bearers on Saturday.
“Earlier, when Siddaramaiah was CM, BJP won in BBMP,” Ashoka said, exuding confidence about the party’s chance. “Now, since they have continuously imposed taxes, people will give a slap to Congress. We will strategise to win five corporations for BJP.”
