Bengaluru, 3 Feb
Police
on Tuesday registered a case against the owner of a Rottweiler that allegedly
mauled a woman during her morning walk here, causing severe facial and neck
injuries.
The incident occurred on 26 January near Teachers Colony in HSR Layout, when
Shalini Dubey, 31, a software professional, stepped out for a walk near her
home.
CCTV
footage shows the dog charging at her, knocking her down and biting her repeatedly
on the face and neck.
Her
family alleged the dog was released without a leash or muzzle.
Dubey
suffered deep wounds to her face, throat and scalp, receiving over 80 stitches
and undergoing an eight-hour surgery, her husband Satya Prakash Dubey said. The
couple has a 17-month-old toddler, and the incident has left her deeply
traumatised, Dubey added.
One wound, about seven centimetres long, was dangerously close to her airway, and she remains hospitalised. “Pet owners are responsible for public safety,” he said, urging strict enforcement of leash and muzzle norms.
