Bengaluru, 12 Jan 

 

Maulana Sagir Ahmed Khan Rashadi, head of the renowned Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Sabeelur Rashad and State Ameer-e-Shariat, breathed his last on Sunday. A respected Islamic scholar and Sheikh-ul-Hadith, he played a pivotal role in strengthening Islamic education in Karnataka and beyond.

 

Under his leadership, Darul Uloom Sabeelur Rashad became a prominent centre for religious learning and community guidance in South India. 


Maulana Rashadi was also actively involved in social advocacy, coordinating the “Save Waqf, Save Constitution” campaign and leading state-wide protests, including a 2022 bandh over the hijab verdict.

 

He guided the community during the COVID-19 pandemic, urging adherence to lockdowns and performing religious duties safely at home.

  

He played a key role in national movements organised by the All-India Muslim Personal Law Board, including campaigns against the CAA and NRC.

 

His funeral prayer was scheduled for Monday at 10 am, followed by burial, drawing scholars, students, and community members to pay their respects.
