The Aam Aadmi Party on Monday lodged a complaint with the Karnataka State Women’s Commission, raising objections to what it described as obscene scenes in the teaser of the Kannada film 'Toxic', starring actor Yash, and sought appropriate action.

Leaders of the women’s wing of the AAP’s Karnataka unit met officials of the commission and submitted a formal complaint in this regard.

In a letter addressed to the commission, AAP state secretary Usha Mohan alleged that the teaser contained obscene and explicit visuals that were harmful to the social well-being of women and children. She claimed that the scenes, released in the public domain without any age-related warning, undermined the dignity of women and were offensive to Kannada culture.

Referring to the “adverse impact on society, particularly on minors”, the party urged the commission to intervene immediately and direct state government authorities to ban the teaser and ensure its removal from social media platforms.

On behalf of the women’s wing of the Aam Aadmi Party, the letter further appealed to the commission to treat the issue with seriousness and take immediate steps to “uphold the cultural and moral values of the state”.

The makers of 'Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups' released the first look of Yash on January 8, unveiling his character ‘Raya’ through a brief teaser shared on the occasion of the actor’s 40th birthday.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film marks Yash’s first project since the blockbuster success of 'KGF: Chapter 2', released in 2022.

Following the teaser’s release, a section of social media users objected to the visuals, accusing the film of objectifying women and questioning the director in light of her earlier remarks criticising such portrayals.

Another section of users, however, came out in strong defence of the teaser and the film’s creative team.

The film is being backed by KVN Productions, which also produced Jana Nayagan starring Vijay.

Scheduled for release on March 19, 'Toxic' also features Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Kiara Advani and Rukmini Vasanth in pivotal roles.

The film’s technical crew includes Rajeev Ravi as cinematographer, Ravi Basrur handling the music, and Ujwal Kulkarni overseeing the editing.
