12,000 people participate in Mysuru walkathon
Thousands walked 5 km in Mysuru to spread awareness on fitness, cleanliness and green living.

Mysuru witnessed an inspiring show of public participation on Sunday as thousands of people joined the “Fit Mysuru” Walkathon, transforming the city’s streets into a powerful expression of health, environmental awareness and civic unity.
The 5km walkathon was jointly organised by the University of Mysore, the Mysore City Corporation (MCC), the Mysore Gym Association, and the GSS Group of Institutions, with support from several local organisations.
People from all walks of life including students, athletes, yoga practitioners, enthusiasts, fitness trainers, women’s groups, and senior citizens—assembled early in the morning at the Manasagangotri Open Air Theatre.
They created an energetic yet disciplined atmosphere. Holding placards on their hands which had messages about highlighting the need to conserve the environment, protect flora and fauna, improve greenery and avoid pollution, about 12,000 took part in the march.
Other signs stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness and exercising regularly. MP Sunil Bose, MLA TA Srivatsa, MLCs CN Manjegowda and Shivakumar, Vice Chancellor of University of Mysuru Prof NK Loknath, Deputy Commissioner Lakshmikanth Reddy, MCC Commissioner Syed Asif Tanveer, City Police Commissioner Seema Latk among others were present.
