Bengaluru, 4 Dec
After Upalokayukta Justice B Veerappa alleged that
corruption was rising in the State, the Opposition BJP has demanded a probe
into the allegations.
Speaking at a public event on Wednesday, Veerappa said that
there was 63 per cent corruption, with Karnataka ranking as the fifth most
corrupt states in the country. He warned that there was a dangerous trend in
the State.
The BJP, which lost the 2023 elections after the Congress
ran a lengthy 40 per cent corruption, picked up on the comments and demanded
that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his Deputy DK Shivakumar stepped down.
“Will you take moral responsibility and resign?” Opposition
Leader R Ashoka wrote on X. “Or will you continue this sham life? The Congress
party, which won 136 seats through lies, malicious propaganda, and deceit, if
it dissolves the assembly and faces elections now, won't even get 36 seats.
This is my guarantee.”
Later speaking at a press conference, Ashoka also demanded a
CBI probe.
Meanwhile, BJP State President BY Vijayendra said the
party’s fight would not stop “until this utterly corrupt, anti-people Congress
government is thrown out.”
He asked on X if the Congress’ goal was to achieve 100 per
cent corruption.
