Bengaluru, 21 Nov

State Home Minister G Parameshwara on Friday said police have secured crucial leads in the Rs 7-crore heist in Bengaluru and expressed confidence that arrests are imminent. “We have got some important leads in the robbery case. I cannot disclose them now because it will alert the offenders. We will catch them very soon,” he told reporters.

Responding to Opposition criticism over the delay in tracing the accused, Parameshwara said the government was committed to resolving the case.

“We are a responsible government. We will catch them; we will not leave them,” he said, adding that he would also detail crimes reported during the previous BJP administration.

The robbery occurred on Wednesday when unidentified men, posing as RBI officials, stopped an ATM cash van transporting money from a bank branch in JP Nagar. Arriving in a car bearing a Government of India sticker, the group claimed they needed to verify documents. They then took the van’s staff into their vehicle along with the cash.

According to preliminary findings, the suspects drove towards Dairy Circle, released the staff there, and fled with the cash, estimated at around Rs 7 crore.
