BENGALURU, 13 NOV

A 23-year-old software engineer has been arrested for allegedly ramming his car into a two-wheeler, injuring a couple and their young son in a hit-and-run incident on 16 October in the City. Identified as Sukruth Gowda, a resident of Kodigehalli and employed at a private firm in Whitefield, the incident occurred near the Ramaiah Hospital bus stand on New BEL Road.

Ankita Patel, 31, was riding with her husband, Vineth A, 33, and their son when a red Tata Curve car, reportedly driven at high speed, collided with their two-wheeler from behind. The force of the impact threw all three from the vehicle, resulting in injuries to Ankita and Vineth.

They were swiftly taken to MS Ramaiah Hospital for treatment and subsequently discharged, though Vineth was later admitted to St John’s Hospital due to ongoing pain. The child sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalisation.

After a complaint was filed on 28 October, police identified Gowda through CCTV footage and arrested him on 7 November, subsequently remanding him to judicial custody.
