Bengaluru, 26 Oct

Biocon Chief Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw and former Infosys CFO Mohandas Pai met Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar amid a war of words over the condition of the City’s infrastructure.

Mazumdar-Shaw said that they agreed on an action plan to fix bottlenecks in the City.

“We had a very constructive meeting Swith hivakumar to agree to an action plan to fix key infra bottlenecks in roads, ORR, PRR, drainage, traffic and garbage (sic),” she wrote on X.

Shivakumar told the press that “I took their opinion. We cannot leave them just because they criticise us. They are part of Bengaluru. They have given some good suggestions. We have to complete them within the democratic and bureaucratic setup. They are taxpayers. We have to listen to them."

Meanwhile, Pai, in a post on X, commended Shivakumar’s Walk with Bengaluru initiative.

“You® interactions are bridging the gap between voters and their representatives. You have taken many good decisions over the last 3 months for our City. You have completed the LARGEST URBAN REFORM FOR ANY INDIAN CITY IN DECADES BY CREATING GBA!” he wrote.

Tensions had flared recently between the State government and several industry leaders – most notably Mazumdar-Shar – over the condition of the City’s roads and infrastructure.
