A man and three members of his family have been booked under the Dowry Prohibition Act and other sections of the IPC for allegedly harassing his wife, threatening to release her private videos, and coercing her into selling her gold ornaments, police said on Friday.

According to a complaint filed at Puttenahalli police station, the 35-year-old woman was engaged to Syed Inam Ul Haq in September 2024 and married him in December the same year as per Muslim customs. She alleged that at the time of marriage, 340 grams of gold ornaments and a two-wheeler were given as dowry.

Soon after marriage, she claimed, Haq revealed he was already married and pressured her into physical relations with his associates abroad.
