Members of a pro-Kannada organisation stormed into a five-star hotel here on Thursday to protest what they called the imposition of Hindi under the guise of ‘Rajbhasha.’
The Ministry of Home Affairs' Rajbhasha Samiti was holding a ‘Hindi Promotion Meeting’ at the hotel, attended by six Members of Parliament, when activists forced entry.
They raised slogans alleging the event aimed to impose Hindi on non-Hindi-speaking states, creating tense scenes until police intervened. High Grounds police rushed to the venue and detained several activists for entering without prior intimation.
