BJP to take out car rally from Jayanagar to Dharamasthala

BJP leaders will lead a 400-vehicle rally from Bengaluru to Dharmasthala to show solidarity with temple chief Veerendra Heggade amid recent allegations.

BENGALURU, 24 AUG


The BJP South Bengaluru district unit will undertake a pilgrimage to Dharmasthala on Monday under the theme "Dharmada Ulivige Dharma Yuddha" (holy war to protect dharma), led by district president and Jayanagar MLA CK Ramamurthy.


The march will begin with prayers at Sri Vinayaka Temple in Jayanagar at 6am.


City South MP Tejasvi Surya and Basavanagudi MLA Ravi Subramanya will flag off the convoy near NICE Road.


400 vehicles with leaders and workers will proceed to Lord Manjunath Swamy temple to offer prayers, meet temple 'Dharmadhikari' Veerendra Heggade to convey the BJP's support to the shrine


A sanitation worker claimed burying a number of bodies, including those of women with signs of sexual assault, in Dharmasthala, alleging involvement of the temple administration.


Similarly, JD(S) working president Sa Ra Mahesh will conduct a car rally from Mysuru to Srikshetra Dharmasthala on 25 August to extend moral support to Veerendra Heggade. 


Mahesh said that the State government should conduct a probe to expose the network behind the complainant.
