Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Monday inaugurated the newly constructed loop at the Hebbal flyover in the City, aimed at easing traffic congestion for vehicles heading from KR Puram to Mehkri Circle.

Shivakumar, riding his old Yezdi RoadKing motorcycle, said the flyover was constructed in just seven months at a cost of 80 crore rupees and is expected to reduce traffic congestion at Hebbal Junction by 30 per cent.

"Breezing through traffic at Hebbal Junction! The new Hebbal Flyover Loop, inaugurated today, will be a game-changer for people commuting via Hebbal Junction. A 700m ramp built at a cost of 80 Cr in just seven months, will reduce traffic congestion by 30 per cent and improve commute quality," he said on X. "Also relived my college days by riding my old Yezdi RoadKing. Dear Bengalureans, we’re committed with deep passion, and we will deliver".

While many commuters expressed a sigh of relief, some flayed the government for blocking traffic while inaugurating the flyover. One notable critic was BJP MP Tejasvi Surya.

“Hebbal Road was a nightmare this morning. On my way to Delhi this morning to attend Parliament, I was stuck at Hebbal Junction for nearly 50 minutes along with thousands of people and almost missed my flight,” he wrote on X. “All because the State government chose Monday morning peak hours as the appropriate time for the flyover inauguration program.”

Shivakumar had earlier criticised Surya and the saffron party. "They have not done even a single small work during their tenure”.

“That young MP (Surya) was saying that we are doing the work for money, we do not need money,” he added.
