BJP complains over tree felling at Freedom Park for RaGa’s protest

The State BJP has lodged a complaint with police and authorities over the demolition of a compound and the felling of trees at City’s Freedom Park, the venue for Rahul Gandhi’s upcoming protest against electoral irregularities. The party has called for legal action against those responsible.
Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, is scheduled to participate in the protest on 8 August, after which a representation will be
made to the Election Commission. The BJP’s release states, “An old compound of
the Freedom Park was demolished for Rahul Gandhi’s protest against the Election
Commission alleging irregularities in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.”
The party also filed a complaint with the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara
Palike (BBMP), accusing officials of illegal tree-cutting without permission,
damaging the environment. They demand action against those responsible,
alleging misuse of power. Prominent leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge and
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, are expected to attend the event.
