⁠Lokayukta raids places of 8 Govt officers

Searches were conducted at premises linked to eight officials, including IAS officer Vasanthi Amar BV, in a disproportionate assets case affecting the Bengaluru Suburban Railway Project.

BENGALURU, 23 JULY


Lokayukta sleuths on Wednesday carried out searches at premises connected to eight officers, including an IAS officer, in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case.


The IAS officer, Vasanthi Amar BV, was posted as Special Deputy Commissioner in the land acquisition section of Railway Infrastructure Development Company, Karnataka (K-RIDE). She was entrusted with providing land to the ambitious Bengaluru Suburban Railway Project (BSRP).


Sources in K-RIDE said that the activities at BSRP were stalled after the contractor firm threatened to stop the work in the absence of land acquisition for the project.


The officers who were targeted in the raid are Manjunathaswamy M, Joint Director Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Department in Madikeri, the district headquarters town of Kodagu; B Venkatarama, Office Assistant (Admin), Mysuru Mahanagara Palike; Rajesh M, Assistant Executive Engineer, KIADB, Tumakuru; and Sunil Kumar, Executive Engineer, Family and Welfare office, Engineering Section, Kalaburagi.


Other officials targeted in the raid are: Sheku, Assistant Director, District Industries Centre, Koppal; Bagli Maruti, Assistant Director, City and Rural Project Department, Bengaluru City; and HV Yerappa Reddy, Executive Engineer, BBMP.
