In a first-of-its-kind initiative in India, the Karnataka State Nursing Council will launch a DigiLocker-based registration system for nurses, enabling Aadhaar e-KYC-based digital certificate issuance. The new technology will be inaugurated on Tuesday by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
The system
allows the Nursing Council to retrieve personal details, photo, and address
directly from the Aadhaar server, eliminating the need for candidates to travel
to Bengaluru. This move is expected to save thousands of rupees in travel,
food, and accommodation costs, especially benefiting women, pregnant nurses,
and new mothers.
According to
Nursing Council Registrar K Mallu, the technology also helps prevent
certificate forgery. Through DigiLocker-Requester, marks cards and ID proofs
will be fetched directly from official sources, while the final registration
certificate will be issued digitally via DigiLocker-Issuer.
