NGO APD hosts job fair for people with disabilities

APD’s Mega Job Fair in Bengaluru linked 500+ disabled jobseekers with 28 inclusive firms, promoting dignity and inclusion through employment.

Bengaluru, 5 July

The Association of People with Disability (APD) hosted the ‘Mega Job Fair’ at its Lingarajapuram campus in City, connecting over 500 jobseekers with disabilities to 28 inclusive employers. Inaugurated by Anitha Lakshmi, KAS, COO, Karnataka State Rural Livelihood Mission, Padma Shri & Arjuna Awardee and internationally renowned para-athlete Dr Malathi Holla, and Kannada actor Amar, the event focused on promoting dignity through employment. Ms Lakshmi highlighted the need for meaningful opportunities, while Dr Holla challenged society’s perceptions of disability. Amar commended APD’s efforts in encouraging economic independence. Employers such as Amazon, Infosys and Jio offered roles in IT, retail, logistics and more.  The fair reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to inclusion, empowering persons with disabilities through skills, training, and access to sustainable livelihood, the APD CEO Dr NS Senthil Kumar said.
