Bengaluru, 3 July

An employee of a popular coffee joint in Bengaluru was assaulted on Wednesday evening by customers over an extra cup of coffee.

The incident, which took place at the Namma Filter Coffee in Seshadripuram at 6.50pm, was captured on the CCTV camera in the cafe and the video has been doing the rounds on social media.

A group of male customers at the joint reportedly asked for an extra cup of coffee (without charge) after purchasing one.

The male staff refused citing the cafe’s policy and suggested that they make an additional purchase instead.

This suggestion infuriated the group who started shouting, leading to an altercation.

In the video, the customers can then be seen hitting and thrashing the male employee even as he tried to defend himself.

A couple of other employees tried intervening and protecting him from being beaten up but with no success.

A case has been registered at the Sheshadripuram police station and an investigation is underway.
