Bengaluru, 30 June
A day after the
body of a 40-year-old woman was found dumped in a garbage truck, her live-in
partner was arrested for her murder.
On Sunday, locals
discovered Asha’s body stuffed in a sack in the truck and alerted the
Chennammanakere Achukattu police station.
Asha and her
live-in partner, 33-year-old Mohammed Shamshuddin lived in a rented house in
Hulimavu and were employed as housekeeping staff at a private company. Though
the duo had been living together for a few months and introduced themselves as
"husband and wife," no documentation proving it has been found.
On the fateful
day, Asha returned home in an inebriated state, leading to a heated argument
between the couple. After the altercation turned physical, Shamshuddin
allegedly suffocated her to death and carried her body for over 20kms in his
bike to dump it.
He was arrested
based on CCTV footage from the area, in which he is seen dumping the sack in
the truck before fleeing the scene. Subsequently, the accused was taken into
custody, and a case of murder and destruction of evidence have been registered.
