State Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has underscored innovation as the crucial pathway for India to attain self-reliance and assert its global leadership in an increasingly competitive landscape. Speaking at the “Innovasthan – A Vichar to Vikas Yatra” event, a national campaign aimed at promoting innovation, intellectual property (IP), and enterprise-led growth, Gehlot highlighted India’s deep-rooted legacy of innovation, citing historical figures like Charaka, Sushruta, and Aryabhata. Gehlot noted India's impressive ascent in the Global Innovation Index, rising from 81st position in 2015 to 40th in 2023.

He emphasised the need for a collaborative effort among higher education institutions, startups, MSMEs, corporations, and policy entities to amplify innovation beyond laboratories into broader societal domains.
