MYSURU, 12 JUNE

Leader of Opposition R Ashoka said on Thursday that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would lose his position within six months.

He also ridiculed an “agreement” about a change of CM in the State, Siddaramaiah tendering resignation, saying that it is not registered in any notary office, but it is registered in the office of the sub-registrar. There are many aspirants to the CM’s post, including Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, PWD Minister Satish Jharkhiholi and Lingayat strongman and Heavy Industries Minister MB Patil.

Ashoka told media persons in Mysuru that BJP leaders are expecting a change of CM because of Shivakumar’s statement in a recent session of the Assembly in Belagavi regarding forcibly grabbing power.  As the Congress government in the State is not stable, a change of CM has become imminent, he said.

The BJP leader said people are already upset about the Congress government’s neglect towards development in the State. With the coffers empty, the government is struggling to release the salaries of its staff, while it has kept pending the bills of contractors and the release of pensions, he said.

The rift-ridden Congress regime will fall on its own, Ashoka said, adding that the BJP will not make any attempt to destabilise the government. He also criticised Siddaramaiah for giving zero marks to the Modi government at the Centre.
