BENGALURU, 22 MAY

A 29-year-old man from Odisha has been arrested for allegedly breaking into Geometry Brewery and Kitchen in Rajajinagar, absconding with cash amounting to Rs 60,000.

The suspect, identified as Dilip Kumar, a BCom graduate, reportedly arrived in City in search of work. In the early hours of 12 May, around 4 am, he is said to have gained entry to the pub by forcing open a rear door. Wearing a mask, he proceeded to the third-floor office, where he was spotted by a security guard.

According to police reports, the guard claimed the intruder brandished a firearm, prompting him to secure the main doors and alert the police via the emergency control room (112). However, by the time officers arrived and conducted a search, the suspect had already fled. Investigations later uncovered tampered CCTV wires and a missing cash box containing approximately Rs 60,000.

After an extensive investigation involving CCTV analysis, local intelligence, and technical surveillance, police traced Dilip to his home village in Odisha, where he had been hiding. He was apprehended earlier this week and brought back to City for questioning. Authorities have registered a case under relevant sections concerning theft and criminal intimidation, though the use of a firearm has not yet been confirmed. Further investigations are ongoing.
