A woman in Bagalkot has been tied up in a cattle shed for the past seven years after she reportedly lost her mental stability and following her husband’s mysterious disappearance just two months after marriage.
The incident took place in Vadageri village of Ilkal taluk in Bagalkot district.
The woman, Shankaravva Sebinakatti, aged 26, from Vadageri married Piddappa from Goodur on 14 February, 2018.
The couple began their married life happily. But two months after the wedding, Piddappa left the house one morning and never returned since. Deeply in love with her husband, Shankaravva was shocked by his absence and lost her mental balance.
She reportedly attacks her mother daily and has attempted suicide by jumping into a well. As a result, she was tied up by her hands and confined to the cattle shed.
When asked if anyone would tie up their own daughter like this, her mother, Devakka, tearfully said, “What else can we do? Otherwise, she attacks me and tries to jump into the well. We have no choice.”
Shankaravva’s parents and family were engaged in construction work in the City. After the wedding, the couple had gone to City for work. While her parents stayed in HSR Layout, the couple was residing in Kasavanahalli. Piddappa went missing while they were in City. A complaint was filed at Bellandur Police Station regarding his disappearance.
Despite extensive searches by both families, Piddappa was never found. He used to drive a truck and would often travel to different states, sometimes returning after six months or even longer.
