BENGALURU, 19 MAY
In a devastating incident on Monday
morning, a 58-year-old woman was tragically run over by a bus shortly after
disembarking at the Satellite Bus Stand on Mysuru Road.
The victim, identified as Krishnaveni, was
a resident of Hegganahalli, Peenya 2nd Stage, and had moved to Bengaluru from
Tamil Nadu with her family two months ago. On the morning of the accident, she
had returned to the city after attending a relative’s funeral in her hometown.
Witnesses report that Krishnaveni arrived
at the bus stand around 4.30am, amid rainy conditions. As she stepped off the
private overnight bus, she was attempting to collect her belongings when the
vehicle unexpectedly began to move. In the ensuing confusion and poor
visibility, it is believed she lost her balance and fell beneath the bus.
Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The circumstances of her death came to
light half an hour later when Krishnaveni's mobile phone began ringing.
Concerned family members, unable to reach her, received shocking news from a
passerby who discovered her phone lying on the road near the accident site.
The Byatarayanapura Traffic Police were notified, and an initial investigation was launched. They are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the bus stand and are actively searching for the bus and its driver, who reportedly fled the scene after the incident. Further inquiries are ongoing.
