BENGALURU, 17 MAY

A 40-year-old foreign national has been apprehended for allegedly trafficking synthetic drugs to college students and IT professionals, according to police reports. Daniel Arinze Okwosha, originally from an unspecified African country, was arrested by the Central Crime Branch after a tip-off led to a raid on his rented flat in Soladevanahalli.

Authorities seized MDMA valued at approximately Rs 4 crore (around £400,000) during the operation. The police indicated that Okwosha had come to Bengaluru on a business visa in December 2023 and was living with a friend, who managed to evade capture during the raid.

Investigations revealed that Okwosha had been sourcing drugs from associates in other states and local contacts within Bengaluru, targeting vulnerable groups such as students and IT employees. The police confiscated 1.48 kg of white MDMA crystals and 1.1 kg of brown MDMA crystals during the operation, marking a significant intervention in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in the region.
