MANGALURU, 17 MAY
A young painter was reportedly stabbed by a group of four men in Dakshina Kannada district late on Friday night. The incident occurred near the Akkarangaadi bus stop in Bantwal taluk, where the victim, identified as Hameed, was standing by the roadside.
According to initial police investigations, the assault is believed to have been orchestrated by a group led by a man named Harris. The motive appears to stem from personal enmity, a senior police officer indicated. Hameed sustained serious injuries to his hand and was promptly taken to a private hospital in Mangaluru by local residents for urgent medical treatment.
The attack has heightened tensions in the area, which had only recently returned to a semblance of normalcy following the murder of Hindutva activist and rowdy sheeter Suhas Shetty. Authorities have registered a case and are actively pursuing further investigations into the matter.
