Congress MLA KM Shivalinge Gowda has expressed optimism regarding his imminent induction into the Karnataka cabinet amid anticipated reshuffles, asserting that his transition from the JD(S) to Congress was underpinned by a promise of a ministerial post.
The four-time legislator from Arasikere emphasised that the reshuffle is yet to take place but remains hopeful for a ministerial role whenever it occurs. As pressure mounts for a cabinet realignment as the government marks its two-year anniversary, Gowda reiterated his commitment to the party's strengthening efforts.
"I was brought to Congress from the JD(S) with the assurance of a ministerial position. There is no secret in that. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has assured me in front of the media and at public meetings that I would be granted a ministerial post after two and a half years of governance," Gowda told reporters.
Gowda highlighted the necessity of this appointment, given that he is the sole Congress MLA representing Hassan district. "To bolster the party and advance its interests, I believe a ministerial position should be allocated. This is a political calculation, and I am confident that when the high command approves a cabinet reshuffle, I will be taken into consideration," he stated.
Since the formation of the government in May 2023, there has been no cabinet reshuffle, yet numerous MLAs vying for ministerial roles have openly expressed their aspirations for inclusion in the cabinet.
