BENGALURU, 14 MAY
A man has killed his father in Karnataka’s Tumakuru district, later claiming the death to have been caused due to an electric shock.
Though the incident occurred on 11 May, police discovered the murder during investigations and while examining video footage from the crime scene.
The footage showed the victim, Nagesh, 55, engaging in a heated argument with his son, Surya, at the Apollo Ice Cream Factory late at night on 11 May. Nagesh reportedly slapped Surya and then hit him with a slipper. He then tried to hit his son with a stick, with the latter dodging it.
As Nagesh turned around, Surya wrapped a white cloth, which he had been carry all along, around his father’s neck and strangled him.
Surya, along with his accomplice, who was also his friend, tried to stage a death due to electrocution by placing the body on a bed and applying electric shock to the fingers.
No one suspected the duo until Nagesh's sister, Savitha sensed something suspicious and filed a complaint with the police.
Investigations and CCTV footage from inside the factory also helped the police to put together the missing pieces of the entire incident.
Though Surya was arrested, his friend is yet to be identified.
The police are trying to ascertain the motive behind the heinous act.
