Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday said his government implemented the guarantees schemes with the intention of ensuring equal rights and opportunities for all citizens, as such measures are a must for economic development and building an equally progressive society.

Siddaramaiah was speaking after launching a slew of development projects aimed at extending basic infrastructure in the backward HD Kote taluk in Mysuru district. The programme coincided with the celebrations of 114th birthday of Dr BR Ambedkar and Bhagawan Buddha jayanthi.

He said economic development and empowerment of all citizens are a must for inclusive growth, sustainable practices and equal distribution of benefits. He said education is important to build a discrimination-free equal society as wished by Buddha, Basava, and Ambedkar.
