In a swift
operation targeting black market ticket sales ahead of the eagerly anticipated
IPL match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings
(CSK), the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested four individuals for
illegally selling match tickets at inflated prices.
The accused
have been identified as Charan Raj, Vinay, Venkatasai Kiran, and Harshavardhan.
Acting on a tip-off, CCB officials conducted a raid on Pipeline Road within the
Yeshwanthpur police jurisdiction. One suspect was apprehended while selling
tickets for the Tata IPL T20 match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, with police
seizing 12 tickets worth Rs 1,200 each and a mobile phone.
Further
interrogation led to the identification of three accomplices, who were later
arrested near a Shell petrol station on Millers Road. Authorities discovered Rs
1 lakh in cash, an additional 20 tickets valued at Rs 1,200 each, and three
mobile phones.
Police reported that the accused were taking advantage of the high demand for tickets for one of the season's most anticipated fixtures. A case has been filed, and investigations are underway to uncover any potential wider links or insider involvement in the ticket distribution process.
