Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar accused BJP and JD(S) of attempting to remove the Congress government in the State, stating that despite their efforts, they will not succeed. He reiterated that the Congress would retain power in the 2028 Assembly elections.
Shivakumar, speaking at an event in Bengaluru rural to mark the government’s two-year anniversary and launch new development projects, praised the Congress government for its effective administration and significant budget allocation of over Rs 4 lakh crore. He criticised the BJP and JD(S) for failing to address key issues like welfare, women’s rights, and job creation, accusing them of jealousy and attempting to undermine the current government.
His comments followed allegations by AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, who accused the BJP of trying to destabilise the state government.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also dismissed BJP claims that the state’s treasury was empty due to welfare schemes, citing ongoing developmental projects worth Rs 1,000 crore. He criticised the BJP's 'Janakrosha Yatre' campaign, calling it full of lies, and blamed the Centre for rising prices of essential commodities despite a decrease in global crude oil prices.
