BENGALURU, 22 APRIL
Panic gripped RV College of Engineering (RVCE) and
Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath on Tuesday after both institutions received hoax
bomb threat emails late Monday night. The emails, sent from the ID sindaarrajput@gmail.com, warned:
“Save ur students and principal life from bomb blast.”
Staff discovered the threatening messages while checking
routine communication early Tuesday morning and alerted the authorities. Bomb
disposal squads and sniffer dogs were swiftly deployed to both campuses, and
students and staff were safely evacuated. After thorough searches, police
confirmed the threats were false alarms.
FIRs have been registered at Kengeri and Sheshadripuram
police stations. Cybercrime teams have joined the probe to trace the source of
the email and check for connections to previous hoax threats. Bengaluru has
seen a series of such incidents in recent years. In April 2022 and again in2023, dozens of schools received similar bomb threat emails. In 2024, the
Visvesvaraya Museum and Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium were targeted.
Police are also revisiting a 2016 case in which two MTech students were arrested for sending bomb threats to RVCE in an extortion bid, suspecting a similar or copycat motive in the latest incident.
