Bengaluru, 8 April

Two men were arrested for stealing Rs 2.46 crore in cash from a real estate businessman in the city. The accused, Manjunath, a cab driver and former tenant of the victim, and Krishna Kumar, a JCB operator, were apprehended by Subramanyapura police.

Businessman Sukumar and his partner Kavita had recently sold 4.18 acres of land, collecting Rs 2.47 crore at the Kanakapura sub-registrar office. To safely transport the money home, Sukumar hired a cab driven by Manjunath. After a brief stop at an ATM on Uttarahalli Main Road, Manjunath fled with the cash.

Police later found that Manjunath had swapped the cab with a Swift near KIMS Hospital, aided by Krishna Kumar. The duo transferred the money and abandoned the Innova. Police recovered Rs 2.20 crore and two vehicles worth Rs 15 lakh.
