BENGALURU, 24 MARCH

The investigation into the murder of real estate businessman Lokanath Singh, who was found dead near BGS Layout in Hesaraghatta, has taken a startling twist, with authorities uncovering that the perpetrator was none other than his own mother-in-law.

Singh, known for his connections with local politicians, was brutally killed on 22 March. Initially, police suspected rival gangs or local criminals; however, new evidence points to his mother-in-law as the mastermind behind the crime.

Reports indicate that Singh had blackmailed and married the daughter of a businessman in December. Fearing for their daughter's future and reputations, her parents allegedly resolved to have him eliminated.

On the fateful day, Singh’s mother-in-law reportedly accompanied her daughter to a gathering at a construction site, where she incapacitated Singh by spiking his food with sleeping pills. Following this, she used a sharp weapon to slit his throat, resulting in his immediate death.

The Soladevanahalli police have since arrested both women for further interrogation.
