BENGALURU, 10 MARCH
The
Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) on Monday launched an indefinite overnight
protest at Freedom Park, accusing the Karnataka Public Service Commission
(KPSC) of discrimination against Kannada medium candidates in the recently held
recruitment examinations.
The protest, which began around 11am, witnessed participation from former actor
and politician Mukhyamantri Chandru; former president of Kannada Sahitya
Parishat Nalluru Prasad; Kannada scholar and littérateur Prof Hampa
Nagarajaiah; retired IAS officer and writer C Somashekar; and Associate
Professor of Marketing, Sameeulla Khan. They collectively condemned the alleged
injustice faced by Kannada medium aspirants in the recruitment process for 384
gazetted probationary posts conducted by the KPSC.
KRV President TA Narayana Gowda, alleged that KPSC officials deliberately
sidelined Kannada medium candidates by conducting examinations primarily in
English and translating question papers from English to Kannada instead of vice
versa. This, he claimed, led to severe discrepancies and unfair treatment of
Kannada medium aspirants.
They also demanded the immediate transfer of KPSC Exam Controller Gyanendra
Kumar Gangwar, accusing him of deliberately acting against the interests of
Kannada candidates.
The forum further demanded the formation of an inquiry commission led by a
retired judge to investigate alleged corruption.
