BENGALURU, 8 MARCH

At the Monthly Service Parade held at the Central Armed Reserve (CAR) headquarters on Saturday, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda praised the dedication and exceptional performance of women police officers, highlighting their ability to undertake challenging roles alongside their male counterparts. The event, which celebrated International Women’s Day, featured a special contingent of women officers taking the salute.

Commissioner Dayananda reflected on the significant shift in perceptions regarding women in policing. “A few years ago, there was a belief that women personnel were not suited for certain responsibilities traditionally assigned to men. However, that mindset has completely changed today,” he stated.

He noted a departmental survey revealing women officers’ willingness to take on roles such as station writers and field duties. In response, the department has implemented equal work assignments to empower women further.

During the celebrations, 126 women officers and personnel were recognised with appreciation certificates for their outstanding service. Additionally, 32 electric autos were donated by corporate entities and distributed to women beneficiaries to promote economic independence in Bengaluru.
