BENGALURU, 24 FEB

A 22-year-old construction worker died in a suspected stray dog attack near the OMR Circle under the Gangamma Gudi police station limits on Sunday evening. Police said that they are awaiting an autopsy report to ascertain the real cause of death.

The deceased, identified as Nagaraju from Raichur, was employed at a construction site in Abbigere and lived in a temporary shelter near the under-construction building.

According to sources, the incident occurred when an inebriated Nagaraju was walking towards the OMR Circle and a pack of stray dogs attacked him. In his attempt to escape, he lost balance and fell into an open drain. The dogs then fatally mauled him, sources said.

The police, however, said it was unclear whether the cause of death was the dog attack or injuries sustained from the fall. "We are waiting for the autopsy report to determine the exact cause of death," an investigating officer said.

The Gangamma Gudi police have registered a case and are probing the matter further.
