Bengaluru, 19 Nov

A 20-year-old woman was charred to death after a fire broke out at an electric vehicle showroom near Navrang Bar Junction on Dr Rajkumar Road in City on Tuesday evening.

The victim, Priya, worked as a cashier at 'My EV Store' electric bike showroom. She died from asphyxiation and severe burn injuries, a fire official said. Around 45 electric two-wheelers in the showroom were destroyed in the blaze.

"The cause of the fire is still under investigation; however, the flames have been extinguished," an officer attached to Rajajinagar police station told Salar News. Initial reports suggest that a short circuit in one of the faulty bike batteries may have triggered the fire.

The fire was reported around 5.30pm. While five to six people inside the showroom were safely evacuated, Priya became trapped due to the intense flames and smoke. She was taken to Victoria Hospital, but could not be saved, police said. -Salar News with Agencies
