Jewellery store guard flees with Rs 15 cr worth valuables

BENGALURU, 9 NOV
Vijayanagara police have formed a
team to nab a security guard of a jewellery store and his accomplices who are
on the run after allegedly stealing valuables worth Rs 15 crore from the house
of his owner in the City.
The theft took place at the house
of Surendra Kumar Jain, owner of a jewellery store in Hosahalli near
Vijayanagar here. Based on his complaint, police have registered a case against
Nepal-based Namraj Bhatta, his wife and three other accused.
The complainant claimed that he
went to Gujarat along with his family on a pilgrimage when his security guard
Bhatta, his wife and the associates allegedly broke into his house and fled
with valuables including 18.47kg of gold ornaments valued at Rs 14.75 crore and
Rs 40 lakh in cash.
Returning to their house on Friday,
the family were shocked to find the valuables stolen and Bhatta, along with his
wife, was missing. The family attempted to contact Bhatta but found his mobile
phone was switched off.
"While checking with their
counterparts in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, police received information
regarding the accused being sighted in Nepal," an official from
Vijayanagar police station said. "A team has been sent to Nepal to nab the
accused and bring them here," he added. –Salar News
