With the rapid transformation of
technology, adaptation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the law enforcement
department is crucial to help investigate a crime. Bengaluru City Police department,
has become first in the country to launch a Generative artificial intelligence
(GenAI) chatbot featuring avatars modelled on senior officers. With such posts,
the Bengaluru police aim to reach younger audiences and announce quick updates
on traffic and law and order related advisory.
Videos featuring the AI avatars of
senior police officers will now be shared on social media with lifelike speech
and synchronised lip movements. The police said that for such videos,
previously recorded voice samples and messages will be used.
Bengaluru police chief B Dayananda said that this is an experimental move.
"If successful, we are planning to go full-fledged with such Chabot’s on
our official website and mobile app," he said. There is however a concern on the misuse of these videos due to deepfake
technology and rising cases of misinformation. —Salar News
