City reports 56 cases of injuries due to firecrackers

At least 56 cases of injuries due to firecrackers were
reported in government and private hospitals in the last two days when City
celebrated Deepavali, sources said on Friday. State-run Regional Institute of
Ophthalmology- Minto Ophthalmic Hospital reported at least 14 cases of eye
injuries until Friday evening.
Minto Hospital director Dr Nagaraj G told Salar News that
while five patients were admitted, nine others were treated at the outpatient
care.
"Among those injured, eight were children and six were
adults. Out of these, eight experienced self-inflicted injuries while six were
just bystanders. At least 10 patients had minor injuries while four had
suffered severe damages. Two children aged 11 and five, have undergone an
operation due to corneal tear. Despite successful treatment, they will have an
impaired vision," he said.
Meanwhile, sources from Narayana Nethralaya said that it had
received three children with minor injuries on hands and face. Shekhar Eye
Hospital in Kundalahalli Gate also said that it had received three such
