Bengaluru, 27 Oct

According to an investigation by the anti-narcotics wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) and customs officials’ drugs valued at Rs 200 crore, which was seized over the past three years, were shipped to Bengaluru from foreign countries using postal services.

Authorities have also discovered evidence that the darknet is being used to procure significant quantities of drugs directly into the City. Officials suspect that local offenders are associated with the international drug peddlers helping them with the supply of narcotics in Bengaluru through post.

Recently, officials had raided the Foreign Post Office in Bengaluru, where they inspected suspicious parcels arriving from the US, Belgium, Thailand, the Netherlands, and the UK. Out of 3,500 parcels inspected, 606 were found to contain narcotic substances worth Rs 21.17 crore.

Following the raid, the CCB and customs officials intensified their investigation to bust the drug trafficking network. Talking to Salar News, a senior official of CCB said that local drug peddlers were detained and interrogated, hence providing crucial information about the postal drug supply network.

The official added that local peddlers would contact dealers in countries where drug sales are legal to supply it to the City through post. "Teams have been formed to trace the addresses listed on the parcels. However, most of the addresses are wrong and in some cases the individuals in question have relocated," the official said.-Salar News
